Scenes from the Atelier
Rusted Heritage
For this new project which might happen in Amsterdam (I see you Liliane Top) in the fall of this year I ‘m asked to make an outdoor installation with my rusted art technique. The subject is actually close to my heart; people of immigrant status, who came here from far. For the first time adoption was also acknowledged as one of the groups of newcomers, especially when you were older at the time of adoption. Along the way this subject got under my skin and touched on some issues I had with heritage, adoption and its place in society.
In addition to this I always feature rappers from across the globe on my website as an inspiration to me and my work. We don’t know each other and most don’t even know they are featured (except Rocky Business). The last few video’s are also from different backgrounds/identities within the rap scene which fits this project more than I could imagine when I started these features.
The outcome of all this is not determined, so see it as work in progress. The final form will be used somewhere, somehow, so maybe it’s more experiment in progress…..
